Individual therapy in East Toronto
I offer a safe, confidential space to talk through whatever is on your mind.
You may have something specific which is troubling you, you may have anxiety or depression, or you may just have a sense that things aren’t going quite as you hoped in your life – and are wondering what it might be like to talk about it with someone.
I am interested to know about you, your hopes, your fears, and the events and relationships that have led you to this point. I am warm and approachable, and have been told that I am easy to talk to.
I was born in England and lived there for many years and have now made Toronto my home.
I take my own personal development seriously. I have my own personal therapy and weekly supervision. I also attend conferences and study days throughout the year.
I am committed to developing an anti oppressive practice in all respects.
I am a relational psychotherapist. I would describe my way of working as a therapist as integrative which means that I draw from all my trainings in order to work out how best to help you. I am trauma informed, and am also influenced by person centred, psychodynamic, self-psychology and humanistic theories.
I take my own self development seriously and consider it to be an important component of my work as a therapist. I attend therapy on a weekly basis and have done for many years. I also attend additional training and conferences throughout the year.
I am committed to developing an anti-oppressive practice in all respects.
I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and abide by their Code of Ethics. I studied at the Toronto Institute for Relational Psychotherapy and am supervised by the faculty there. I am a member of the Canadian Association for Psychodynamic Therapists (CAPT) and the Ontario Society of Registered Psychotherapists (OSRP).
In 2018-2019, I worked on the crisis line at the Toronto Rape Crisis Centre supporting survivors of sexual violence.
I originally qualified as a counsellor in the U.K. in 2016 and have over six years experience working with adult clients. I completed a Foundation Degree in Humanistic Counselling with Transactional Analysis (with Distinction) through the University of Middlesex, UK. This was accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
My first course in this field was in 2006-2007 at the WPF in London, UK. I have also spent a year training in psychotherapy at the Metanoia Institute in London, UK.
Price and availability
I work Monday-Friday 7am-4pm. I am based in an office at Coxwell and Gerrard but am currently seeing clients online only due to Covid-19.
I am happy to do a no-cost 15 minute consultation to see if we will be a good fit. This also gives you an opportunity to ask me any questions that you may have. Or, we can have a full session for the first one (and this would be charged at the usual rate).
My fee is $130 per 50 minute session. You can pay with cash, cheque, or INTERAC e-transfer at the end of the session.
I do have sliding scale places. Please contact me to ask about these if the full fee would be a barrier to you.
Please contact me for availability or with any questions you may have.
You can reach me by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
